Celtic Knot Epona

This is my entry for the July contest. the theme was to centered around a knotted person. I struggled with some idea, thinking of going with the traditional stylistic knotted people from the book of kells or lindisfarne Gospels. However inevitably I fell back on a style of people/knot that I have done before, and wanted to express again with my current skill set.

Anyway, this is Epone(see link below) of Celtic legend. She Red-haired, but black eyed and light of skin, she carries her form across mainland Europe to the reaches of the isles and frozen waste. She is bare of foot and runs as swift as the horse, not needing to ride, she dances with a stallion before the midsummer festival.

Technical stuff:
Pencil and Penned on A4 comic paper, design time 20 hours
Colour in CACG 3, 7 hours**

***I have a copy coloured via Copic, however I lack the skill to bring the piece to a finished touch, also I used airbrush technique and the masking film has destroy some of the surfaces, I need to learn how to do this better. Even though the piece is digitally colour I still consider it to be "traditional"
